47th International Noise Congress & Exposition, Chicago, IL

Welcome to the 47th International Congress and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering.  The Congress theme is Impact of Noise Control Engineering. The Congress is organized by the Institute of Noise Control Engineering of the USA (INCE-USA on behalf of the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE).

The congress provides the opportunity for engineers working in the field of noise control to come together and exchange ideas about their industry. With more than one hundred technical sessions covering a wide range of issues facing the noise control industry and exhibitors in attendance, we will be questioning….

-- How have our choices as a society affected the noise levels to which people are exposed at work, at home and in our leisure time?  How has that influenced the noise control profession?
-- What have been our noise control successes, failures, and lessons learned?
-- Most people enjoy the benefits of many products that are much quieter than in the past, sadly, the sound levels from other products remain high. Why is this?

As noise control professionals, the attendees of this conference devote their lives to promoting solutions to environmental, product, machinery, industrial and other noise problems.

The goals of the Young Professionals Workshop are to provide mentorship via case studies and professional issues presented by world-renowned experts and to hold informal discussions between young professionals and I-INCE leaders and senior noise control engineers. Once the winners of the Young Professionals Grant have been determined, all of the participants are invited to this Workshop to gain valuable contacts and view presentations by noise control professionals. The invitation is also extended to most students who register for the Congress. Workshop attendees are treated to discussions of topics such as: Mission and Scope of I-INCE Activities; How to Publish a Paper on Noise; How to Formulate Research Programs; How to Network with Professionals; How to Present a Paper at an I-INCE Congress; Perspective by a Young Professional; and How to Assist in the Organization of Technical Sessions. If you are interested in other topics, please send suggestions to I-INCE VP for Technical Activities. We might not be able to accommodate all requests but we will keep all suggestions in mind as we plan future workshops.
